Swapnil Singh is an Indian cricketer who plays as an all-rounder for Uttarakhand in domestic cricket and Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Swapnil Singh was born on January 22, 1991, in Rae Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh. His father, Dharam Singh Charak, was passionate about cricket, and Swapnil’s love for the sport was nurtured from a young age. He began his cricketing journey with Baroda, making his first-class debut at just 14 years and 355 days old.
Swapnil has played for various teams, including Baroda, Uttarakhand, and Siechem Madurai Panthers in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL).
Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy: He took 6 wickets for 19 runs against Saurashtra in the 2014-15 season.
Ranji Trophy: Swapnil scored 565 runs in six matches for Baroda in the 2017-18 season, becoming the leading run-scorer for his team.
He has consistently performed well in the TNPL, playing for Siechem Madurai Panthers and contributing with both bat and ball.
Indian Premier League (IPL)
Swapnil’s IPL journey began in 2008 when he was part of the Mumbai Indians squad, although he didn’t play any matches. He made his IPL debut for Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) in 2016 against Kolkata Knight Riders, taking the wicket of MS Dhoni.
He has played for Kings XI Punjab, Lucknow Super Giants, and Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
Swapnil took 3 wickets in 3 matches for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the 2024 season, helping the team qualify for the playoffs.
Although Swapnil hasn’t played many international matches, he was part of the Indian Under-19 team that won the World Cup in 2008 under Virat Kohli’s leadership. He was also selected for the India Blue squad in the Duleep Trophy in 2018 .
