Shreyas Iyer is a talented Indian cricketer who has made a significant impact in the world of cricket. Born on December 6, 1994, in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, Iyer plays as a right-handed middle-order batter and captains the Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Iyer’s cricketing journey began in Mumbai, where he honed his skills in local cricket circuits. He was spotted by coach Pravin Amre at the Shivaji Park Gymkhana, which marked the beginning of his professional cricket career. Iyer made his first-class debut for Mumbai in the 2014-15 Ranji Trophy season and quickly became a prominent player, scoring 1,321 runs at an average of 73.39, including four centuries and seven fifties.
Iyer made his international debut for India in a T20I against New Zealand in November 2017. He then earned a place in the ODI squad and became a regular in the middle order. Injury Update
Recently, Iyer suffered an injury to his spleen while fielding during the third ODI against Australia in Sydney. He was taken to the hospital for further evaluation and is currently under treatment, medically stable, and recovering well. The BCCI medical team is closely monitoring his injury status, and an Indian team doctor will remain in Sydney with him to evaluate his day-to-day progress ¹ ².
