• Madhabi Puri is an Indian banker who became  the first-female chairperson of India’s markets regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India since March 1, 2022.
• SEBI chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch’s tenure ended on 28 Feb 2025. She took office on 02 Mar 2022, as the first woman to lead the regulator. She is preceded by 1987 Orrisa Cadre IAS Officer Sh Tuhin Kanata Pandey who took office on 01 Mar 2025.
• However, she started her career in ICICI Bank in 1989, left the bank in 2011 and moved to Singapore to join Greater Pacific Capital.
•  After this, she has been functioning closely as a whole time member of SEBI with the former chairperson Ajay Tyagi since April 2017.
• Before joining SEBI, she was a consultant for the New Development Bank in Shanghai and worked as CEO at ICICI Securities & a managing director.
• Moreover, She has completed her schooling from Fort Convent School, Mumbai, and at Convent of Jesus and Mary, Delhi. Also she is graduated with a specialization in Mathematics from the St. Stephen’s College, Delhi. Later on, she went to Gujarat to obtain an MBA at IIM Ahmedabad.
