Jyoti Malhotra, also known as Jyoti Rani, is a 33-year-old travel vlogger from Haryana who was arrested for allegedly spying for Pakistan.
Although, she runs a YouTube channel called “Travel With Jo” with over 377,000 subscribers and an Instagram handle with 1.37 lakh followers. Malhotra’s social media profiles showcase her love for bike riding, solo travel, and exploring different cultures.
She has traveled extensively across India and foreign countries, including Pakistan, Bhutan, Indonesia, and China, documenting her experiences on social media.
Malhotra visited Pakistan twice, once in 2023 and again later, developing close ties with Ehsan-ur-Rahim alias Danish, an official at the Pakistan High Commission in Delhi, who introduced her to Pakistani intelligence operatives.
She is accused of sharing sensitive information about Indian Army movements and locations with her Pakistani handlers, allegedly as part of an espionage network operating across Haryana and Punjab.
Malhotra was arrested and booked under charges of espionage along with five others. She was sent to five-day police custody after her confession.
In 2024, she faced backlash for her behavior in China, where she uploaded videos that many found disrespectful and offensive to local customs and laws.
Malhotra allegedly formed an intimate relationship with one Pakistani operative and even accompanied him to Bali, Indonesia.
Authorities claim she revealed details that could potentially harm national security, leading to her arrest and charges under the Official Secrets Act.
