Gukesh D is an Indian chess player who became the youngest World chess champion in 2024.
Born in a Telugu family, Gukesh’s father is a ENT surgeon whereas his mother is microbiologist.
In 2019, Gukesh became the second youngest grandmaster in history during a tournament in New Delhi.
After this, Gukesh reached a rating of over 2700 for 1st time in September 2022. Later one month he also became the youngest player ever to beat Magnus Carlsen.
In September 2023, he became India’s top ranked player in the FIDE rankings, surpassing five time World champion Vishwanathan Anand.
In 2024, he beat defending champion Dig Liren 7.5-6.5 after 14 games & with this he became World’s youngest chess champion.
