In 2019, she was spotted at a youth event by the Indian Army’s Rashtriya Rifles unit. The army helped with her education and medical needs.
Coaches Abhilasha Chaudhary and Kuldeep Wadhwan from the army noticed her confidence and decided to train her.
Although prosthetics were not an option, they were inspired by Matt Stutzman, another armless archer who used his legs. Sheetal’s unique ability to climb trees with her legs impressed the coaches.
Within 11 months of training, Sheetal competed in the 2022 Asian Para Games, winning two gold medals in mixed doubles and women’s individual events, along with a silver medal in women’s double compound.
Also, she is recognized for her exceptional achievements despite her physical challenges, making significant strides in para-archery.
At the 2023 Asian Para Games, Sheetal secured gold medals in both the mixed doubles compound open and the women’s compound open archery events, showcasing her exceptional skill and versatility in para-archery.
