Manu Bhaker is an Indian Olympian who won 2 Bronze medal in shooting at 2024 summer Olympics in Paris.
Although, Manu Bhaker started gaining international recognition by winning a silver medal at the Asian Junior Championships in 2017.
At the National Games in Kerala, she clinched nine gold medals and set a new record in the 10-meter air pistol event by scoring 242.3 points.
In 2018, Manu made headlines by winning gold at the ISSF World Cup in Guadalajara, Mexico, in the 10-meter air pistol event at the age of 16. She became the youngest Indian to achieve this feat.
Also, she won gold in the mixed team event at the same World Cup, partnered with Om PrakashMitharval. Additionally, she secured gold at the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, setting a new record with a score of 240.9 points in the women’s 10m air pistol final.
After this, in 2019 she won gold in the 10m air pistol mixed team event at the ISSF World Cup in Delhi. Despite a setback when her pistol jammed at the Munich World Cup, preventing her from finishing in the 25m pistol event, she qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
Despite the pandemic disrupting many events, Manu continued to perform well and became a strong contender for the Tokyo Olympics in 2020.
Moreover, Manu along with Esha Singh and Rhythm Sangwan, won the team gold in the women’s 25m pistol event at the Asian Games in 2022.
In 2024, in Paris Summer Olympics, Manu Bhaker won a bronze medal in the women’s 10-meter air pistol event. This victory was historic as it was India’s first medal at the 2024 Olympics and made Manu the first female shooter from India to win an Olympic medal.
